If you struggled to wrap your head around the Crocs revival, or have just about come to terms with Uggs, then here’s another footwear curveball: Moon Boots. Yes, the retro snow boot is back.
Some, particularly those frequenting Les Trois Vallées, have sworn by MBs for years. “Though I initially purchased them for their pillowy comfort on winter WFH deadlines, I’ve worn them every single day, including to a New Year’s Eve party at Chateau Marmont, two long haul flights, countless early morning yin yoga classes and late-night dinners,” says Vogue’s senior fashion projects editor Julia Hobbs. “As we continue to size up so many of our favourite wardrobe staples, it’s no surprise the same proportion play is now influencing our footwear choices.”
Hobbs isn’t alone in her obsession. Victoria Beckham and Paris Hilton wore them throughout the Noughties, while Dua Lipa recently bagged a cherry-red pair of the classic Low 2 Moon Boots, which she showed off in one of her signature “photo dumps” styled with a bright blue Yeezy Gap Round puffer and baggy cream trousers. She’s got GCDS’s fuzzy Hello Kitty pair, too.
