The Best Street Style From Couture Fashion Week
As Haute Couture Week tentatively shows its spring/summer 2022 collections, both virtually and in Paris, Style du Monde’s Acielle is capturing the best street style moments.
The opulent fashion week which began on Monday (24 January) was immediately rocked by some unfortunate news. Just days after the loss of fashion titan André Leon Talley came the news that fashion pioneer and designer Manfred Thierry Mugler had passed away. Tributes flooded in celebrating the inimitable designer, from current Mugler creative director Casey Cadwallader to Marc Jacobs.
Schiaparelli, the first haute couture show of the day, started off with quite the (socially distanced) audience. Couple of the moment Uncut Gems actor Julia Fox and Ye (aka Kanye West) sat front row at the Schiaparelli show, ready to see “Planet Schiaparelli.” Artistic director Daniel Roseberry’s spring/summer 2022 collection included models carrying heads sculpted onto luxe bags, then ended with British Vogue February cover star Maty Fall closing out the show in a golden spiked dress. All eyes were on Dior next, as Monégasque royal Beatrice Borromeo made a welcome fashion week appearance in a chic skirt suit. Elsewhere, Hollywood A-lister Rosamund Pike looked suave in a padded dress and face net while rubbing shoulders with the fashion pack in Paris.
On Tuesday, Chanel sent horses galloping down the runway. Over at Valentino, Pierpaolo Piccioli’s breathtaking dresses celebrated the body in all its glory on Wednesday. Additionally, Glenn Marten’s one-off Jean Paul Gaultier designs wowed audiences on the penultimate day of shows.
