Miuccia Prada made a serious sock statement this season: every single outfit at her 50-look show featured uniform-grey or black socks. For a sporty flourish, she teamed her scholarly socks with trainers from a Miu Miu collab with New Balance.
Boss joined forces with Russell Athletic for its spring/summer 2022 sportswear collection. Models, including Gigi Hadid, took to the pitch-cum-runway in logo varsity jackets and sporty separates, worn with branded sports socks pulled up to their mid-calves. Lacoste was another brand to go big on fashionable athleisure this season, teaming everything with colourful sports socks.

Elsewhere, Tod’s showed high-top sneakers with ribbed-knit socks peeping over the top, while less conventional pairings arrived at Marni, where sporty striped socks and shoes became one.
Balenciaga’s pre-fall 2021 collection featured sporty socks, too. Look seven comprised grey-wash trackies tucked into black socks and neon Runner sneakers, while later on in the lookbook a model is pictured wearing a dress, a hoodie, white Balenciaga sports socks and trainers.
